Just a nerd from Upstate New York

Welcome to J. Louis Creative! My name is Josh, and I am a writer, academic, and gamer from Central New York. Like a lot of folks from around here, I have spent the majority of my life living in the same small town in the Mohawk Valley.
What is J. Louis Creative?
In December of 2020, I decided that I wanted to pursue some creative projects on the side. I wanted to put my talents to good use by helping other creatives fulfill their visions. In an attempt to market my skills to others who might have need of them, I established J. Louis Creative. My creative consulting services can help any creative fulfill their vision.
In the end, I’m all about helping people like you tell the stories they were always meant to tell. If you know of someone like this, please tell them about J. Louis Creative.
What school did you go to?
I earned my Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences: General Studies from Herkimer County Community College. After Herkimer, I went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing from the State University of New York at Oswego. Lastly, I earned my Master’s degree in English and Creative Writing with a concentration in fiction from Southern New Hampshire University.
What kind of work do you do with J. Louis Creative?
After undergraduate school, I worked as a copywriter for a small digital marketing and IT service provider in Oneonta, NY. At the time, I was also working toward my Master’s degree part-time. This experience taught me valuable skills regarding time management and hustle.
After completing my Master’s program, I was offered a job at Herkimer. I work in our Academic Support Center as the English/Writing Specialist. My primary responsibility is to assist students who struggle with the writing process and provide instructional support as needed.
When able, I also teach First Year Student Seminar and the occasional English course. Occasionally, I will work as an academic advisor during the summer months. Furthermore, I am responsible for training our peer tutors to ensure they are working toward their tutoring certifications. Yeah, I’m a pretty busy guy.
What do you do for fun?
When I am not working, you’ll find me doting on my pets. I have an Australian Cattle Dog named Bronn and a cat named Sami. I also love video video games and other consumer media with a good story that I can get invested in. My favorite days are lazy days at home when I can get some lift weights or learn new skills.
In my opinion, the pursuit of creative arts and self-expression is paramount to the human condition. From traditional narratives to digital mediums, I fully support the visions of creatives around the world. I believe that everyone has a story to tell, and if you believe this as well, I have just one question for you.
What’s YOUR story? What legacy will YOU leave behind for the next generation? What is YOUR creative experience?
