Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am working on a bunch of creative projects in 2021, so I just wanted to share an update on how everything is going. In fact, I have kind of lost track of all the random stuff I have in the works, so I thought I would write a blog about some of them just to outline it all and get my thoughts straight. Here are some of the many creative projects I am working on in 2021.
Update #1: Progress on The Fall of House Blackford
First, an update for one of my major creative projects for 2021 is to finish my first novel, The Fall of House Blackford. Set during the same timeframe as the Arthurian legends, Blackford largely takes place on a fictional island off the coast of England, a land where peace and prosperity can be found for even the most hardened criminals. The story follows a young man named Will as he navigates this treacherous new landscape and experiences countless injustices in his search for the truth behind his mother’s mysterious death.
The narrative for Blackford has changed countless times over the past eight or so years, but I think it’s finally moving in a direction that I am proud of. Maybe I will share some excerpts from the rough draft at some point in the near future. For now, I just want to share that this is a thing that will happen, whether I think it’s shit or not. Keep your eyes peeled for a blog about how I’ve managed to develop a healthy writing routine through the use of careful planning and discipline.
Update #2: Progress on Project Defenders
Project Defenders is officially available to play online here on my website, but I am always trying to improve it. Right now, I have scheduled an update for the game at the end of February, which should make the game MUCH more playable in the long term. Some examples of updates to the game include: player and enemy stat variance, random loot drops, a shop that actually charges you for the items, and randomized level-ups for the player character.
By the end of the month, I will update Project Defenders with weapon and armor drops, accessories, and more, so keep an eye out for that. Really, it just depends on the time investment; my book is my highest priority at the moment, as that has literally been in the works for almost a decade, and I just want to wash my hands of it already. But Project Defenders is a close second–don’t worry!
I also plan to release a changelog in blog form alongside the updated version of Project Defenders. This will provide more details about the updates; I hope you are looking forward to it!
Update #3: The J. Louis Experience
I have this blog, but I haven’t really updated it much in the past month. Life has just kind of gotten in the way. I would like to offer more content on the blog over the next few months, so I will be making an honest attempt at releasing one or two blogs a week. (I really need to get working on filling out those categories, too.) If there is anything in particular you would like to see, be sure to let me know in the comments.
Long story short, I have been pretty busy not just with my creative work, but with my actual work, too. Still, I am making every effort to continue producing content on a regular basis. Hopefully this gives you an idea of what I’m working on, and what kind of content you will see from me moving forward. Until next time, stay well, and stay productive! If you want more updates on my creative work, you can follow me on social media–I post pretty regularly over on Facebook.
